DragonScape Idle is a free browser idle RPG made by one person. I've been building it since February, 1,000+ hours so far, mostly obsessing over progression and balance. I wanted the feeling of slowly building a character, getting skills to 99 and unlocking quests and gear, in something I could play a few minutes at a time. So I built the game I wanted to play.

There is at least 6 months of gameplay in it right now. Each skill takes roughly 5 to 20 hours to reach 99.

โš”๏ธ 19 skills with levels 1 to 99: Mining, Smithing, Fishing, Cooking, Woodcutting, Firemaking, Crafting, Fletching, Farming, Thieving, Runecrafting, Brewing, Prayer, Melee, Ranged, Magic, Hitpoints, Pets and Exploring

๐Ÿ“œ 900+ quests across 60+ quest chains and six episodes

๐Ÿฐ 15 dungeons and three combat styles

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Gear progression tied to your skills and level

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Skill guilds and Skill Capes at 99

๐Ÿพ Pets with their own missions

๐ŸŒ A community goal where everyone's progress adds up to shared rewards

๐Ÿ•’ The main thing I wanted to do differently: offline progress actually replays what happened while you were away. Come back after 8 hours and the game doesn't simply say "you earned X XP". It goes through the actions that would have happened, including drops, level-ups, quest progress and food use. Your character kept playing.

You train one thing at a time. There is no queue-20-things-and-vanish automation. The decision of what to train next still matters.

HOW IT WORKS ON ITCH

๐Ÿ‘‰ Press Play and the game opens in a new tab on its own site, so your save lives in one place.

๐Ÿ‘‰ No signup. You start as a guest and your save is stored in your browser. Cloud saves are optional.

๐Ÿ‘‰ No download or plugins. Runs in any modern desktop or mobile browser.

HONEST NOTES

๐Ÿ‘‰ It's an open beta. Completely free, no ads, and a small optional gem shop that I'm testing.

๐Ÿ‘‰ The art is AI-generated. I'm a solo developer and there is a lot of art in the game. The design, balancing, quests and numbers are where my time went. The code is also mainly AI-assisted.

I read every comment. I'd rather hear "this part isn't fun because..." than "looks good". If something confused you in the first 10 minutes, or you got bored and remember what you were doing, tell me below. ๐Ÿ™

As my skills level up for things like fishing, it shows that my catch chance is going down even when not changing what I am fishing for.

Hey, thanks for flagging that. That number is your chance relative to the fish you're on, not your skill overall: it starts at 50% at the fish's required level and climbs 1% per level above it, up to 95%.

So when you level into a new fish, it resets to 50% for that one. Shrimp at level 29 sits at 78%, but Trout at level 30 starts back at 50%. If a quest or a tap switched you to the newly unlocked fish, it can look like levelling up made you worse when it's actually a fresh, more valuable fish.

If you stay on the same fish it only ever goes up. I'll make the panel spell this out so it isn't so confusing.
